    Though all companies will launch the policy, it will be called the Arogya Sanjeevani Policy followed by the name of the respective insurance companies. Since there is also 5 percent co-pay for all ages, the premium is expected to be low.

    To maintain its uniqueness, Irdai has banned insurers from imposing deductibles.
    The new standard health insurance policy, which will be launched from 1 April 2020, will provide a basic health cover of between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 5 lakh. The purpose of this new policy is to cut the clutter created by insurance companies that launched multiple products with different features, leaving customers confused. Though all companies will launch the policy, it will be called the Arogya Sanjeevani Policy followed by the name of the respective insurance companies.

    To maintain its uniqueness, Irdai has banned insurance companies from imposing deductibles or offer riders and variants with it. The increase in cover, 5% for each claim free year subject to a maximum of 50% of the sum assured, is also mandated by Irdai.

    Though the entry age is restricted to 65 years, this policy will offer lifelong renewability. How much insurance companies will charge for this unique product remains to be seen. Since every insurance company is offering standard plans, comparison of premium will be easy. Since there is 5% co-pay for all ages, the premium is expected to be low.
