    How to verify Aadhaar-registered mobile number online

    To avail various Aadhaar-based services online, it is important to have your mobile number registered with your Aadhaar number. Here's how you can verify if your current mobile number is registered in the UIDAI database.

    If the mobile number entered by you does not match with the UIDAI records, then you will have to visit your nearest Aadhaar Centre to update it.
    It is important to have your mobile number registered with your Aadhaar number, i.e., in the Unique Identification Authority of India's (UIDAI) database. There are a few reasons for this.

    One being that it is on this registered mobile number that you will receive the one-time password (OTP) which you will have to use for verification purposes. For instance, if your mobile number is registered with your Aadhaar number, then you can easily verify your income tax return (ITR) using the Aadhaar-based OTP. In case of Aadhaar-based KYC, it is important to have your mobile number registered to complete the KYC process via an Aadhaar-based OTP.

    Added to this, to avail various Aadhaar-based services online it is important to have your mobile number registered with your Aadhaar number.

    Here's how to find out if your mobile number is registered in the UIDAI database.
    Step 1: Visit www.uidai.gov.in
    Step 2: In the 'My Aadhaar' tab, select 'Verify Email/Mobile number'.

    Step 3: A new tab will open on your system. Here, enter your Aadhaar number and either mobile number or email ID, whichever you wish to verify.

    Step 4: Enter the captcha code and click on 'Send OTP'.

    If the mobile number entered by you matches with the records with the UIDAI, then it will flash on the screen that the mobile number entered by you is already verified in their records. In case the mobile number entered by you does not match with the UIDAI records, then it will say that the mobile number you have entered does not match with their records.

    How to update/change mobile number
    If the mobile number entered by you does not match with the UIDAI records, then you will have to visit your nearest Aadhaar Centre to update it. You will have to pay Rs 50 for updating your mobile number at the Aadhaar Centre. Do keep in mind that the updation of mobile number cannot be done online.
