Dabur suspends production except for ayurvedic medicines, Chyawanprash, sanitizers and hand washes

New Delhi: Packaged consumer goods maker Dabur said on Monday that it has temporarily suspended production at its manufacturing units till March, except for essential products like ayurvedic medicines, Chyawanprash, hand sanitisers and hand washes.

“The situation is still dynamic and uncertain and it is difficult to evaluate or quantify the impact at this point of time. A lot will depend on the stabilization of the overall scenario arising from the COVID-19 pandemic,” Dabur, which also makes Vatika shampoo, Fem bleach and Real juice, said in a statement.

It added that it has increased production and supply of products like Chyawanprash, Giloy and Honitus in addition to fast-tracking the introduction of hand sanitizers, besides enhancing supplies to e-commerce for these products.

The company said it plans to stay the course in terms of strategy and operations and will continue to invest behind its brands and business.

Starting Sunday, the central and various state governments imposed a complete lockdown across the country till March 31, with only essential services being made available. On Monday, the number of positive novel coronavirus cases crossed 460. Many states, including Maharashtra and Delhi, have imposed Section 144 starting Monday.
