Alcis Sports managing director Roshan Baid said besides India, Alcis Sports has the rights to sell and distribute in Sri Lanka, Nepal and Pakistan. The company said the ‘affordably-priced’ licensed apparel range will retail country-specific merchandise including from Brazil, Germany, England and Spain.
“We will leverage Paragon Apparels for backend manufacturing, which we believe is a core strength, along with new-age technology and styling,” Baid said.
Alcis Sports, a flagship entity promoted by casual and sportswear maker Paragon Apparel, manufactures for categories including running, training and sports.
A Morgan Stanley report estimates that the athletic wear industry could add $83 billion in sales by 2020, with Asia being the biggest contributor to athletic-wear.
Presently, the US is the world’s biggest market for active wear at $97 billion, and the report forecasts that markets in Asia and Latin America have the maximum potential to grow.
