    IIT Delhi eyes more research from this Industry Day

    This is a platform created by IIT to closely understand the problems of the industry and showcase prominent research work by the students and faculty members.

    There are five themes for this Industry day-clean energy for sustainable economy and environment, sustainable medical technologies, emerging nano and advanced materials, sustainable environment and make in India.
    After successful two years of conducting Industry Day where it garnered Rs 60-70 crore worth research in each of these years, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi is ready to launch the third edition of Industry Day that would be held on 21 September wherein 150 companies would participate. This is a platform created by IIT to closely understand the problems of the industry and showcase prominent research work by the students and faculty members.

    "We are the first IIT in the country to organise such an event at such a large scale. This has been a success and gradually we are also involving the PHD students," said V Ramgopal Rao, director, IIT Delhi. Before 2017, the IIT was attracting Rs 30 crore or so worth research work every year, Rao said.

    Rao said that a large number of IIT Delhi alumni are leading startups, many of which are successful unicorns. "We would continue to build an environment for startups at this IIT," he said.

    There are five themes for this Industry day-clean energy for sustainable economy and environment, sustainable medical technologies, emerging nano and advanced materials, sustainable environment and make in India. About 50 products would be showcased on this Industry Day which include drone technology by BotLab Dynamics, green technology based pigeon repellant by Clensta, plant based alternates to animal based foods, bioresorbable cardiac stent, among other solutions. Last year, 100 companies had participated in the Industry Day.
