Further, a ceremonial handover of the airline will be taking place at Air India headquarters in Delhi. All government representatives of Air India are likely to have tendered their resignation on Thursday afternoon.
The board meeting to formalise an agreement between the debt-laden Air India and Tata Group is likely to take place later in the day.
“The disinvestment of Air India is now decided to be on the 27th January 2022. The closing balance sheet as on 20th Jan has to be provided today 24th Jan so that it can be reviewed by Tatas and any changes can be effected on Wednesday,” airline’s director finance Vinod Hejmadi had said in an email to employees. In a boost to sentiment, a consortium of lenders led by the State Bank of India (SBI) has also agreed to provide loans to Tata Group for the smooth operations of loss-making Air India.
