    Synopsis

Khan has been charged with offences under Sections 8(c), 20(b), 27, 28, 29 and 35 of the NDPS Act pertaining to possession, consumption and purchase of drugs.
A Mumbai Special NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Court on Wednesday adjourning the matter on Aryan Khan's bail hearing in drugs-on-cruise case for today, said it will pick up the case on October 14 after 11 am. The court's order came after Aryan's lawyer presented their bail request on Wednesday while the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) requested for more time to reply.
During the hearing, the NCB alleged that Aryan along with others, was prima facie involved in "illicit drug trafficking, procuring and distribution of contraband" banned under the NDPS Act. The anti-drugs agency also accused Aryan of being in touch with some persons abroad who could be part of an international illegal drug syndicate and it is continuing further investigations to unearth his links to contact the foreign agency through proper channels.

The NCB's statement came during a hearing of the bail applications of Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant, Munmun Dhamecha, Mohak Jaswal, Nupur Satija, Aachit Kumar, Shreyas Nair and Avin Sahu before Special NDPS Judge V.V. Patil.

Aryan was arrested on October 3 in connection with the seizure of banned drugs on board a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast. He is currently in judicial custody, and lodged at the Arthur Road prison in Mumbai.

On Monday, the Special court had deferred the bail application hearing after the NCB advocates asked for some more time to respond and file their affidavit.

While Khan's counsel Amit Desai had said that the person's liberty is at question, insisting on the bail, NCB's advocates AM Chimalkar and Advait Sethna said that the bail would hamper the probe into the case.

The other accused - Arbaaz Merchant, Munmun Dhamecha, Nupur Satija and Mohak Jaswal - have also applied for bail, and their plea will be heard with Khan's.

Last week on Friday, Aryan's bail plea was rejected by a magistrate's court on the ground that it did not have the jurisdiction to decide the matter.

Khan has been charged with offences under Sections 8(c), 20(b), 27, 28, 29 and 35 of the NDPS Act pertaining to possession, consumption and purchase of drugs.

The NCB has so far arrested 20 people in the case.
