Deepika Padukone (L) did not take Salman Khan's (R) name while responding to Vogue.
Actress Deepika Padukone is admired not just for her strong on-screen performance, but also for not shying away from talking about her battle with depression. The 33-year-old, who opened up about her ordeal with clinical depression in 2015, recently commented on the same issue again. However, this time, the 'Padmaavat' actress seemed to take a jibe at actor Salman Khan. The 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' actor made a statement at an event last year where he said that he 'cannot afford the luxury to be depressed.' During an interview with Vogue magazine, Padukone said that the depression is not a choice.

While the 'Ramleela' actress did not name Khan specifically, she did say that she is referring to a 'male star's statement'. She said that some people see depression as a luxury, and that people have too much time and money to be depressed. She continued to say that it's important to debunk the fact that depression only affects people coming from a specific economic status.

Meanwhile, Twitterati did not seem amused by the 'Bharat' actor's statement either. Angry tweets poured in for the actor on the micro-blogging platform.

Padukone opened up about her struggle with clinical depression in 2015. She defined it as an 'empty, pitt-ish, directionless feeling'.

On the work front, Padukone is set to appear in the biopic of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. She will also share screen space with her husband, actor Ranveer Singh, in the biopic of cricket legend Kapil Dev. Titled ''83', the Kabir Khan directorial is set to release in April next year.
