The actress implored CM Siddaramaiah and the Karnataka State Police Department to investigate the matter and identify the culprits. She also attached some pictures and videos of the suspects.
Sandalwood actress Harshika Poonacha was left shell-shocked when she and her husband were harassed by some men on the streets of Bengaluru, for speaking the local language. The ‘Charminar’ star recounted her harrowing experience on X and revealed that the hooligans also attempted to rob them.

In an impassioned X post, the actress wrote that she and her husband Bhuvann Ponnannaa had gone out for a casual dinner at a restaurant on Mosque Road in Frazer Town's Pulikeshi Nagar. On their way back, two men suddenly appeared near their car and started to abuse them, saying that their car could have caused accidents due to its size.

"My husband ignored it by saying "innu move maadilwalla side bidi" (we haven't moved at all right, please move aside now). He moved the vehicle ahead a little, and by then these two men started abusing him and my family in their language saying these Kannada people should be taught a lesson and even tried to hit him on the face," she wrote.

However, her husband anticipated the move, steadfastly held on to the phone, and passed it to her.
“Also these guys had a problem that we were talking in Kannada. They were like your coming to our area and stop talking in languages you want. “Yeh local kannad wala hey” (these guys are local Kannada people). It agitated them more when my hubby and me spoke only in Kannada. They said keep your ”Kannada style" to yourself. Most of them spoke either Hindi , Urdu and a few in broken Kannada," she revealed.

Poonacha then went on to say that although she approached the police, not much help was given. She also added that this incident has left her scared to venture out in her hometown. “Are we living in PAKISTAN or AFGHANISTAN?? Is it wrong to use my language Kannada and get abused for it in my own city??? How really safe are we in our city?”

The actress implored CM Siddaramaiah and the Karnataka State Police Department to investigate the matter and identify the culprits. She also attached some pictures and videos of the suspects.

Within moments of being shared, the tweet went viral on the microblogging platform, gaining more than 152K views and 2.4K likes.

Reacting to the post, one X user observed that Karnataka has become an unsafe place to live. “Law and order is on the decline in Karnataka. First Neha Hiremath's murder in broad daylight, and then this. If actors and daughters of politicians are not safe, how are the others? In my area, there have been 2 thefts in one week. We have never faced this in the last decade!” read the post.
