NEW DELHI: Harish Salve's wedding to UK-based artist Caroline Brossard was an intimate affair due to Covid restrictions, but friends who couldn't be there in person joined the couple virtually. One such guest was Reliance Industries chairman and billionaire Mukesh Ambani, who raised a virtual toast to the newlyweds.

The high-profile lawyer and India's former Solicitor General is the legal counsel for Reliance.

Giving a speech at the wedding, virtually from Mumbai, Ambani said he looked forward to celebrating with the couple in-person soon, joking that as Salve's best-man said, he "better shell out all the money."

In a video being circulated on social media, Ambani can be heard saying, "In...point in time, we can give you a hug, wish you the very best and I'm sure that time is not very far off. I look forward to seeing you and all your friends, this is the same set of people we met at Gleneagles. I hope we don't allow you to go so easily with a virtual piece. Like your best man said, you better shell out all the money."

The last part invoking a cheer from those present at the ceremony.

Brossard, who grew up in the United Kingdom, has a Masters in Fine Arts from Chelsea School of Arts, UAL. The couple had met each other at an art event in North London and have been in a relationship for over a year now.
