One of India's finest legal minds, Harish Salve, has tied the knot with UK-based artist Caroline Brossard in a simple church ceremony. The couple also signed and registered their wedding at the venue.
The high-profile lawyer and India's former Solicitor General, who often makes headlines with the people and causes he has chosen to defend in his four-decade-plus career, exchanged vows with the 56-year-old artist of French-Spanish descent.

Brossard opted for an elegant white wedding gown, while Salve was dressed in a three-piece suit for the ceremony.

Brossard, who grew up in the United Kingdom, has a Masters in Fine Arts from Chelsea School of Arts, UAL. The couple had met each other at an art event in North London and have been in a relationship for over a year now.

Brossard has an 18-year old daughter of her own. 65-year-old Salve has two daughters - Sakshi and Saanya - with his ex-wife Meenakshi. He formalised his divorce from his wife of 38 years, citing "irreconcilable differences", in June this year.

A baptised Christian who has been attending church regularly for the past two years, Salve traces his roots to Nagpur. His father N K P Salve was a chartered accountant and a Congress associate, while his grandfather P K Salve was a legal luminary. Salve, a trained chartered accountant as well, began his legal career in 1980 at J B Dadachandji, first as an intern, and later as a full-time lawyer. He also assisted famous lawyer Nani Palkhivala in the Minerva Mills case and was later designated a Senior Counsel by the Delhi High Court.

Salve shot to fame when he argued the first anti-dumping case in the Supreme Court of India. Over the years, his other clients included Reliance Industries Limited, ITC and the Tata Group. He has also appeared in the Krishna Godavari Basin gas dispute case against Mukesh Ambani's brother, Anil Ambani's Reliance Natural Resources Limited. While representing Vodafone in its $2.5 billion retrospective tax dispute with the Indian government, he moved to London temporarily to focus on the case.

In 2015, he took up the high-profile case of actor Salman Khan who was earlier sentenced to five years in jail for a 2002 hit-and-run accident that left one man dead and four others injured. The Bombay High Court eventually suspended the lower court's decision, and on 10 December 2015 acquitted Salman Khan of all charges for the 2002 hit-and-run and drunk-and-drive case.

In May 2017, he represented India before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case. Jadhav was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of spying. Following his arguments, the ICJ has ordered a provisional stay on Jadhav's execution until a final verdict is declared. Salve charged only Rs 1(INR) in legal fees for representing Jadhav - and this gesture earned him high praise.

He represented the Facebook Vice President Ajit Mohan in a case against the Delhi Legislative Assembly and also the Indian Banks Association in a matter regarding the loan moratorium.
