J&K: State Investigation Agency raids multiple places in terror funding case

Srinagar: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) conducted raids at multiple locations across Kashmir Valley on Saturday in connection with a case regarding alleged funding of militant activities.
The investigating officers said the raids were part of the continuing efforts to rein in the networks of militant groups with the purpose of destroying the ecosystem of militancy. The raids were conducted at the houses and premises of the suspects in Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora, Srinagar and Budgam districts. The case has been registered under sections 13, 17, 18, 39 and 40 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code.

Officials said an amount of Rs 29 lakh was recovered and seized during the searches along with bank passbooks, cheque books and digital devices such as mobile phones which have a bearing on the investigation. They said the militancy funding modules have created many sleeper cells in different parts of the Valley, which are allegedly facilitating passing on money to various militant organisations.
