For the first time in a decade, on Tuesday, New Yorkers will be casting their vote for a new governor, the list of which does not include the top list name, Andrew Cuomo.

The most prominent name for the democrats is Kathy Hochul who took over the governor’s office in the midst of sexual allegations against Cuomo and his resignation for the same. This fall, Hochul is expecting to become the first woman to win the election. But, in order to do this, on Tuesday she has to face her competition, Jumaane Williams, elected public advocate of New York City, and U.S. Rep. Tom Suozzi, a Long Island moderate.

The current verdict on Roe v. Wade has increased the chances of Hochul being the next in line for the governor position. Her election manifesto is based on promoting pro-abortion laws. The Republicans are on a downside on this point because three or four of its candidate are all anti-abortion.

Whilst taking over from Cuomo, Kathy Huchol has assured a clean start from the previous way of running the office and its governance. She has emphasized not maintaining any relation whatsoever with whatever misconduct happened in Cuomo’s presence. It is almost like a clean break from his administrative ways as she said.

Despite all of this, Cuomo's presence was meandering like a cloud. His public appearances and statements are what brought him back to the picture. He even went to the extent of saying he would start his own independent party to contest in the elections. But looking at the current list for the election, it is clear he chose not to.

Hochul, not paying attention to all the useless winds around has just kept her focus on her campaigns which support the pro-abortion laws and toughen the gun state laws in the state of Buffalo after there was a racist mass shooting there.
