Will Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, were spotted on Saturday in Malibu's trendy Nobu sushi spot. It was their first sighting since the video of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock in March this year during the Oscars telecast was viewed by millions.
The 53-year-old Will Smith wore a navy blue outfit with a hat of the same colour. While Jada, 50, sported a black jumpsuit with a red checkered flannel jacket wrapped around her waist.
She followed her husband closely while leaving the Pacific Coast Highway restaurant.

After Rock joked about Jada's bald head in referral to "G. I. Jane", Smith stormed the stage. Jada has previously discussed her struggles with an autoimmune disorder (alopecia) that causes her hair loss.

Following the slapping incident, when Smith was awarded the best actor for his work in the movie "King Richard", he apologised for his actions. Some days later, he also announced his resignation from the Academy, citing that he had betrayed the trust of the Academy.

Smith apologised to Rock for the slapping, and the Academy banned him from attending academy shows and Oscars events for 10 years.

He said, "I fully accept all consequences for my conduct" when mentioning his response to the Academy's disciplinary hearing notice.

He also added that his actions at the 94th Academy Awards were "shocking, painful and inexcusable".

Later, he gave resignation to the Academy, and Smith got a 10-year ban from attending shows and Oscar events.

Smith also filmed a YouTube video in July where he delved deep into the event. In this 5-minute-long video, he revealed his reaching out to Rock to talk about the incident and that the comedian wasn't ready for the talk. He also apologised in this video to Rock and others, including Rose Rock.

For Chris Rock's part, he talked about the slap on his latest "Ego Death World Tour", where he compared Smith with Marion "Suge" Knight, who is serving a 28-year prison sentence in connection to voluntary manslaughter.

Rock said nobody would hear the real victims if everybody claimed to be a victim.
