When will the election end?

The US presidential elections are not far away with early voting starting in September 2020 in certain US states. The election cycle in the US begins as early as two years before the general election and is a drawn-out process. Here’s a quick look at some of the key dates.

The US Election day is on November 3rd and polls will close by the day’s end. Before that there will be presidential debates with the candidates. The first presidential debate is set to happen on September 29 in Cleveland, Ohio, followed by the Vice presidential debate on October 7 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The second presidential debate will take place on October 15 in Miami, Florida, with the third planned for October 22 in Nashville, Tennessee. These dates may be rescheduled and updated in the coming months.
On December 14th, the members of the Electoral College will meet in their respective state capitals to formally vote for the position of president and vice president. On January 6th, 2021, electoral votes will be counted before a joint session of Congress, where the president of the Senate will formally announce the election results.

January 20th is currently the decided inauguration day where the new US president will take the oath of office, and so will the running mate as Vice President, finishing the entire election process.

A few important dates gone by are February 3, 2020, when the first primary event had taken place in Iowa, where Democratic and Republican parties held caucuses. The final primary took place in Connecticut on August 11, 2020.
