In two shocking incidents spanning different metropolitan cities, two men were allegedly responsible for the tragic deaths of their live-in partners.

In the first such incident, the accused, Sahil Gehlot, from Delhi's Mitraon village, killed his partner, Nikki Yadav by strangulation and dumped the body in his dhaba's fridge. After having committed the crime, he allegedly married another girl on the same day. The incident seems to have taken place on the intervening night of 9th and 10th February.

The apparent reason for the crime was because he had not told his family about the relationship and they were putting pressure on him to get married to another girl. However, according to the police, Nikki came to know about the marriage and confronted the accused leading to arguments between the two.

According to police sources, "His family was pressurizing him to get married with some other girl and finally in Dec. 2022, the engagement and marriage of the accused with another girl were fixed for 09.02.2023 & 10.02.2023, respectively. The accused did not inform the deceased about his engagement or marriage plans."

The police said that they received the input about the incident on February 10 following which the team reached the Mitraon village in search of the accused who was absconding.

Sahil was apprehended from the Kair village crossing in the national capital by the police team. The police said that he tried to mislead the team during the initial interrogation, but after a series of sustained interrogations, he admitted to the crime.

In the second incident, a man from Maharashtra, Hardik Shah, allegedly murdered his live-in partner, Megha Torvi and hid the body in a bed box. The incident took place in a rented flat in Maharashtra's Nalasopara. The crime was brought to police attention by the real estate agent, Sanjeev Thakur.

As per police sources, he approached the police after the victim's aunt who lives in Karnataka called him and stated that Hardik had confessed to the crime. On the phone call from the accused, he also threatened to commit suicide.

When Sanjeev Thakur went to investigate the claims, he found the flat locked from within and was unable to reach Hardik's cell phone. He also stated that there was a foul odor emanating from the flat. Once the police gained entry into the flat, they foul smell led them to the bed in the bedroom. The victim's body was found in the bed box and showed clear signs of strangulation.

Cops tracked Hardik and found that he was travelling by the Paschim Express train. Cops coordinated with their counterparts across railway stations and detained him at the Nagda railway station. The accused, Hardik was detained from the Nagada junction railway station in Madhya Pradesh early on Tuesday. The Tuling police, where a case of murder has been registered, will produce him before the Vasai court.
