"Entry & exit gates of Sukhdev Vihar, Jamia Millia Islamia, Okhla Vihar and Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh are closed. Trains will not be halting at these stations," read a tweet from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
"As advised by Delhi Police, entry & exit gates of Sukhdev Vihar and gate no. 3 of Ashram have been closed. Trains will not be halting at Sukhdev Vihar," DMRC tweeted.
According to Delhi Fire Service, students of Jamia Millia Islamia University blocked the way of one of the fire tenders and damaged it. Two firemen were also injured in the violence, they said. There were reports of the police resorting to teargas and lathicharge to disperse the mob.

Delhi Traffic Police said in a tweet that the vehicle movement was closed from Okhla Underpass to Sarita Vihar due to the agitation. Vehicles coming from Badarpur and Ashram Chowk were diverted to alternative routes due to the blockade.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appealed for peaceful protests. In a tweet, Kejriwal said, 'No one should indulge in violence. Any kind of violence is unacceptable. Protests should remain peaceful.'
