Some coronavirus suspects may take more days to develop symptoms of the disease and hence current standard 14 days of isolation may not be enough, according to a latest study.

As per the study of Char Leung, the incubation period in some coronavirus patients may be as high as 24 days.

Currently, the World Health Organisation advises 14 days of quarantine for people who may have come in contact with other Covid-19 patients or may have visited affected countries like China or Italy.

However, as per the new study, some might not show symptoms -- such as cough, fever, tiredness and difficulty breathing -- in 14 days. This may lead to a false sense of security.

The study was published in Cambridge University’s Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology journal on March 18.
